High School Principal
Pay Grade: Based upon Experience
Period of Employment: 12 Months FLSA Status: Exempt
Supervised by and/or Reports to: Division Superintendent
General Responsibilities: Provides leadership for the school staff in the development, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive educational program and administers the program in accordance with School Board policies and administrative regulations.

Essential Responsibilities:
Leadership
- Collaboratively develops, supports, implements, and assesses the school plan
- Identifies, analyzes, and applies appropriate data to ensure continuous improvement
- Plans, implements, supports, and assesses instructional programs to promote student learning
- Manages human resources effectively to achieve the school division’s mission and goals
Organizational Management
- Effectively coordinates daily operations
- Plans and manages fiscal and other resources based upon program needs in a timely manner
- Fosters a positive, safe, and orderly environment for students and staff
- Demonstrates effective organizational skills
Communications
- Identifies, analyzes, and applies appropriate data to ensure continuous improvement
- Promotes effective communication with staff
- Promotes effective communication with parents and community
Professionalism
- Demonstrates a professional demeanor and practices ethical standards appropriate to the profession
- Participates in meaningful and continuous professional development
- Supports, promotes, and communicates the mission, Six-Year Plan, policies, and regulations of the Colonial Beach Public Schools
Performs other tasks as assigned by the Superintendent.

Requisite Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must possess the leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
- Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of the current issues, principles, and practices in public secondary school education and the ability to apply them to the needs of a school.

Physical Requirements:
Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to: a personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. Some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions. Some heavy work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally to move objects may be required.
